I'm a huge fan of Shantae! And love collecting artbooks! Everything that I wanted! Artwork is beautiful, love all the different concept art! I love reading about how Shantae was created. And learning that artist and developers started out with this game and is making other media that we love today. This book is perfect for any fan!

    As a huge fan of Metroidvania games, Shantae was a big hit for me. As such, I like the art style and decided to get the art book. Really good buy, as it has lots of artwork that I hadn’t seen before. The book goes in depth about each of the 5 games ( at the time of writing this ) and the development of each one’s art. Really cool. If you’re a fan of Shantae, I recommend getting this book.

    It's 263 pages of Shantae and company to love. Color and B&W from concept art to finished art, from many known named artists, I recognized Robert DeJesus work immediately. It's nice to have it in a hard cover which looks to have a flat finish with a glossy art of Shantae on the front. Several glossy art pages inside, with other pages of semi-glossy black and white sketches. It's just a beautiful book.

    I am no art book aficionado, but this book is outstanding! The quality of the print and pages is high, and there is so much content here. No matter which game you like best, there will be numerous pages dedicated to it. It is well organized, and all of the text was written by Matt Bozon (the creator of Shantae) and Chris Hoffman (of Nintendo Power fame). There are tons of nuggets of trivia that even a longtime fan of the franchise wouldn't know, and a ton of information about the array of talented artists who have worked on the franchise over the years. I have read the book cover to cover and it was a great experience, and some of the fanart or unused art by artists who were applying to work on the games was also crazy to see. As someone who grew up with the series I can't recommend this book enough, it's a collector's item of incredibly high quality that will be something I treasure for years, and one that gave me a ton of insight into the behind-the-scenes of Shantae's creation and of each game's development.

    Shantae is one of those franchises that I'm somewhat surprised still exists, given the original game was one of the last released on the Game Boy Color so sold very little (and is now worth eye-watering sums). But thrive it did, thanks to a small but loyal fanbase, and after multiple delays we now have an artbook. Luckily, it was more than worth the wait.

    The title covers all 5 games, as well as some bonus content, including the original 1995 pitches when it was going to be a SNES game. There are lots of pen and pencil sketches that show the development of the characters and world as well, which is a nice touch you don't tend to see too often in these kinds of books. For even a more casual fan, this comes highly recommended.
